Destination Champions: A taste of Dublin

Dublin has long been a favourite for meetings and incentives, known for its warm hospitality, walkable city layout, and charming blend of heritage and modernity. But on our latest FAM trip, Abigail uncovered just how much more Dublin has to offer, from exceptional hotels and unique venues to unforgettable food experiences and countryside adventures just minutes from the city.

This two-day exploration showcased the true breadth of Dublin for corporate groups, and reaffirmed why it continues to shine as a leading destination for meetings and events.

Here’s why…

The night before: Warming up at Radisson Blu Stansted

With an early morning departure ahead, the journey began at the Radisson Blu Stansted, an ideal hotel for international event groups. With event space for up to 400 theatre style and unbeatable proximity to the terminal, less than five minutes door-to-door, it set the tone for a smooth and stress-free trip.

Day One: Touchdown in Dublin & a taste of the city

Just 50 minutes after take-off, Dublin was calling. A personal chauffeur whisked us to The Morgan Hotel, a stylish base in the heart of the city and the perfect starting point for a busy day ahead.

Exploring Dublin through its flavours

One of the standout experiences was the Fab Food Trail, a brilliant option for groups of up to 30 wanting to explore Dublin through its culinary culture. From artisan bites to sweet treats, every stop brought a new flavour of the city:

  • Gorilla – home to the best cheese toastie ever tasted
  • Pepper Pot Café – famed for its fresh scones
  • Cellar 22 – a cosy hideaway perfect for relaxed tastings
  • Sherridan’s Cheesemongers – the ultimate Irish cheese experience
  • And of course… ice cream to finish

The trail also included a milestone moment for Abigail, a first-ever Guinness at the iconic Palace Bar. A must-do for any visitor.

Evening: Creative spaces & stylish stays

After a quick recharge, the evening activities began.

Trinity City Hotel

A short walk led to Trinity City Hotel, known for its period architecture and warm atmosphere. While ideal for smaller meetings, around 32 cabaret, its central location makes it enviable for executive events and social gatherings.

Hilton Dublin

Next, a tram ride brought the group to the Hilton Dublin, currently undergoing a significant refurbishment and adding 107 new bedrooms to its inventory. With its recently refreshed meeting room (completed in 2023) and vibrant, welcoming ambience, the hotel is only growing stronger as a corporate option. Dinner here, a beautifully executed three-course meal, rounded off day one perfectly.

Day Two: A journey through luxury, history & Irish countryside

Day two was nothing short of magical, a blend of five-star indulgence, historical grandeur, and breath-taking outdoor adventure.

Breakfast at InterContinental Dublin

The day began at the InterContinental Dublin, where an impressive breakfast spread awaited. From the red carpet arrival to the elegantly designed interiors, every detail of the hotel speaks luxury.

The property features:

  • 2 ballrooms — Ailesbury (230 theatre) and Shrewsbury (600 theatre)
  • Generous pre-function spaces
  • Beautiful garden views ideal for summer events
  • The elegant Ice Bar, perfect for receptions of up to 160
Killruddery House & Gardens

Next stop: the enchanting Killruddery House & Gardens, one of the most prestigious privately owned estates in Ireland. A highlight was meeting Fionnuala Brabazon, the Lady of the House, who shared the estate’s rich family history.

Event spaces here are truly unique:

  • The Grain Store — a rustic, character-filled converted barn for 180 dinner / 300 reception
  • The Orangery — a stunning glasshouse setting accommodating up to 250 for networking or drinks
Powerscourt Hotel Resort & Spa

The journey then continued to the breath-taking Powerscourt Hotel Resort & Spa, set against views that don’t quite feel real. Afternoon tea, themed around the series Wednesday, was both whimsical and delicious, and learning about Dublin’s event landscape while overlooking the gardens was a standout moment.

Event highlights include:

  • A grand ballroom for 500 theatre
  • Breakouts located in a dedicated hub for seamless flow
  • One of the largest and most luxurious suites imaginable, perfect for VIP guests

Following the hotel visit, the group headed into the countryside for some unexpected adventure: off-roading and axe throwing at the scenic Guinness Lake, and yes, another Guinness for good measure.
