Destination Champions: Discovering Prague for Meetings & Events

Our Destination Champions series continues this month with a look at Prague – a city where history meets elegance, and event potential is boundless. Following on from our explorations of Barcelona, Lisbon and Malta, Abigail recently had the chance to experience Prague first-hand during an unforgettable FAM trip hosted by OREA Hotels & Resorts, hotel republic, and Wise Bohemian River DMC, represented in the UK by DMC Advantage.

From spectacular venues to authentic Czech experiences, Prague offered a perfect blend of professionalism and playfulness, ideal for hosting world-class meetings, conferences, and incentives.

Why Prague?

Located at the heart of Europe, Prague offers excellent accessibility with two international airports nearby and superb rail and road connections. This makes it an ideal hub for international attendees.

Beyond convenience, Prague delivers on atmosphere. Its UNESCO-listed Old Town, historic bridges, and impressive skyline provide stunning settings for events and networking. The city effortlessly combines the old and new — with cutting-edge venues sitting alongside centuries-old palaces and cultural landmarks.

The Czech capital also boasts a competitive cost base compared to other European cities, offering excellent value for accommodation, catering, and event services, without compromising quality.

Where to Stay and Meet

Our accommodation was at the OREA Hotel Pyramida Praha, a premier congress hotel that can host up to 1,100 delegates across 12 flexible meeting rooms. Situated just 15 minutes from the airport and within walking distance of the city centre, it offers a rare combination of scale, convenience, and authentic Prague atmosphere.

For more boutique events or smaller groups, OREA Hotel Angelo Praha impressed with its stylish design and excellent facilities, while remaining central and accessible.

Prague also features a broad portfolio of venues, from modern convention centres to atmospheric historical sites, giving event planners flexibility to create memorable programmes tailored to their clients’ needs.

Unique Experiences to Engage Delegates

Prague’s rich cultural heritage offers endless opportunities for immersive activities. On my trip, a nostalgic vintage tram ride provided a charming introduction to the city, while an interactive city hunt ensured teamwork and offered a fun way to discover Prague’s hidden gems.

One standout was the Original Pilsner Urquell Beer Experience, an engaging blend of history, tasting, and interactive challenges, perfect for incentive groups looking to mix education with entertainment.

And no visit to Prague is complete without a river cruise along the Vltava, which offers stunning views of the city’s iconic architecture and a relaxing setting for informal networking.

Dining and Hospitality

Czech cuisine is hearty and satisfying, complemented by world-renowned beers and a blossoming contemporary food scene. During my visit, I enjoyed lunch at Mlynec Restaurant, where spectacular views of Charles Bridge set the stage for both business meals and social gatherings.

Other great options include Sensa Bistro Praha, perfect for casual brunches or networking lunches, and a host of cafes and bars offering everything from traditional fare to international flavours.

The warmth of Czech hospitality was evident everywhere, a key ingredient for successful events where service and attention to detail matter.

Iconic and Inspiring Venues

Prague’s venues reflect its layered history and dynamic modernity. The Zofin Palace, a beautiful riverside neo-Renaissance building, is ideal for gala dinners, awards ceremonies, and elegant celebrations.

The Municipal House, a stunning Art Nouveau masterpiece, recently hosted a memorable Great Gatsby-themed black-tie dinner, combining historical grandeur with creative event design.

For creative productions or filming, Gabriel Loci offers a unique historical atmosphere, perfect for clients seeking something truly different.

Why I Believe Prague Works for Meetings and Events

Prague is a destination that can effortlessly accommodate large conferences, bespoke incentives, and everything in between, with a perfect balance of infrastructure, culture, and cost-effectiveness.

Whether your event requires the scale of a major congress or the intimacy of a boutique gathering, Prague offers the venues, experiences, and local charm to make it truly special.

Thanks to the wonderful team at OREA Hotels & Resorts, hotel republic, Wise Bohemian River DMC, and DMC Advantage for an incredible introduction to this remarkable city. I’m excited to bring Prague to our clients at Trinity Event Solutions and showcase all the possibilities it holds for future meetings and events. Get in touch to find out more.

Na zdraví to Prague — where history, hospitality, and innovation meet!
